Palm Beach Atlantic And Spring Hill Lead The Way - May 14, 2014
TIFFIN, Ohio – Palm Beach Atlantic and Spring Hill dominated the 2014 All-ICAA Softball awards. The two teams combined to win all of the individual awards and had 10 of the 14 players selected.
The ICAA is composed of NCAA Division II schools that are not in a conference. Softball members are Bluefield State, Oakland City, Palm Beach Atlantic, Spring Hill and Union.
Co-Coaches of the Year were Kimmy Bloemers of Palm Beach Atlantic and Allison Sellers-Cook of Spring Hill. Bloemers led the Sailfish to a record of 30-16, second place in the ICAA and a spot in the NCAA South Regional. She is 238-171 in eight years at PBA.
Sellers-Cook led the Badgers to a 36-11 record and the ICAA championship. She is 217-225 in nine years at SHC.
Player of the Year was Lindsay Johnson of Palm Beach Atlantic. She had 15 doubles, four triples and six home runs, scored 37 runs, drove in 32 runs, stole 28 bases, had an on-base percentage of .470, a slugging percentage of .694 and batted .415 in 44 games.
Pitcher of the Year was Caroline Segrera. She was 32-8 with 37 complete games, threw 15 shutouts, struck out 374 batters in 276 innings for a 0.76 Earned Run Average.
Freshman of the Year went to Victoria Gonzalez of Palm Beach Atlantic. She had 14 doubles, two triples and five home runs, scored 21 runs, drove in 34 runs, had an on-base percentage of .489, a slugging percentage of .685 and batted .419 in 42 games.
