Welcome to the webpage for the Independents Collegiate Athletic Association. The ICAA gives out team honors and individual awards to those NCAA Division II schools competing as independents. This is the 11th year of the ICAA.
First off, my name is Mike Bond, Director of the ICAA. This is a non-profit organization. I do not charge a membership fee nor do I ask schools for any money. The ICAA got it's start actually in the fall of 2003. At the time, I was the assistant sports information director at Texas-Pan American. We were an NCAA Division I independent so I helped to coordinate some all-independent honors. Most of the school were appreciative so I kept it going.
We give out individual awards, All-ICAA honors and recognize team champions in the following sports; Cross Country (M&W), Soccer (M&W), Volleyball, Basketball (M&W), Baseball, Softball and Indoor and Outdoor Track (M&W). Cross Country and Track champions are based on performance, Soccer is a point system (3 for a win, 1 for a tie) and the remaining five are based on winning percentage.
We also have the Indy Cup, the all-sports trophy. You get points based on your finish in sports. 10 for first, 8 for second and so on. Each school must count both basketballs and volleyball. You then take your three highest finishes from the other sports.
For the 2014-15 year, we have eight members; Cal State San Marcos, Concordia-Irvine, Concordia-Portland, Embry Riddle (Fla.), Oakland City, Oklahoma Baptist, Palm Beach Atlantic and Southern Wesleyan. We also have affiliate members in Chowan (M&W Soccer), Spring Hill (M&W Soccer) and Lincoln (W Soccer).
