Chowan Leads The Way - November 12, 2014
HOLLY, Michigan – Chowan had a strong showing in the 2014 All-ICAA Men’s Soccer awards. The Hawks won all three individual awards and had four All-ICAA selections. The teams were selected by ICAA Coordinator Mike Bond.
The ICAA is composed of NCAA Division II schools that are not in a conference. Men’s soccer members are Cal State San Marcos, Chowan, Concordia-Irvine, Concordia-Portland, Embry Riddle (Fla.), Oakland City, Oklahoma Baptist, Palm Beach Atlantic, Southern Wesleyan and Spring Hill.
Coach of the Year went to Stephen Peck of Oakland City. The Hawks had an amazing season finishing 11-7 and tied for fourth in the ICAA. Chowan had won just 10 games in the previous seven seasons combined.
Player and Freshman of the Year was Terell Williamson of Chowan. The midfielder scored 24 goals with five assists for 53 points. He currently leads NCAA Division II in total goals and goals per game (1.33), second in total points and third in points per game (2.94). Williamson has scored five game winning goals this season.
